New Engine Patch notes 0.16.4

⭐ Fields of Mistria patch v0.16.4 is here! This non-content patch contains performance improvements as well as bug and crash fixes. Thank you to everyone who reported bugs and shared feedback following the engine migration. Your reports have helped us identify and resolve many of the issues addressed in this update.



Patch notes will feature a 🌼 emoji whenever the change is based on community feedback and bug reporting!

[Bug Fixes]

🖥️ Performance

  • 🌼 Improved frame rates, especially in busier areas such as farms.

  • 🌼 Reduced memory usage during startup by up to 50%, meaning the game should launch more smoothly for players who were experiencing issues.

  • 🌼 Optimized world rendering for smoother gameplay.

  • 🌼 Improved performance and reduced stuttering on some AMD graphics hardware.

🎮 Gameplay

  • 🌼 The large essence stone’s crafting level has been restored.

  • 🌼 Monsters no longer occasionally double-destroy themselves.

✨ QOL

  • “Stuck” button in the menu now works outside buildings.

  • 🌼 Players no longer get stuck in doorways, such as those in the carpenter's house and Terithia's house.


🎨 Art & Visuals

  • 🌼 Vera’s register now displays correctly.

  • 🌼 Fixed Eiland’s walk animation at the game’s start.

  • Fixed some shadow rendering.


❌ Crash Fixes

  • 🌼 Fixed a crash that could occur while saving.

  • 🌼 Birds leaving trees no longer crash the game.

  • 🌼 Using the pickaxe after leaving a room no longer crashes the game.

  • 🌼 Casting the Growth spell repeatedly on trees no longer crashes the game.

  • 🌼 Going through doorways while holding fish bait no longer crashes the game.

  • 🌼 Defeating Rock Stacks no longer occasionally crashes the game.

  • 🌼 Turning on the lights of specific mine floors no longer crashes the game.


[Known Issues]

These are issues we are aware of and working to fix as soon as possible:

  • The UI Softlock: This is a high-priority bug for us. We’ve added improved logging to help investigate this issue further.

  • Equipping Armor Crash: We believe we’ve solved this issue, but we’ve also added additional logging to the game to track this bug.
